I have 15+ years of experience in public schools in both Texas and Chicago and hold a Master’s degree in Reading Education, an ESL certification, and am currently a PhD student in the Literacy, Language, and Culture Program at the University of Illinois-Chicago. I have served in a variety of roles at both the school and district leadership level, including High School Academic Dean, Middle School Literacy Coach, and Director of Humanities. My passion for the literacy experience of each and every student is fueled by a focus on the humanity and dignity of each student and a belief in honoring and valuing each and every human’s story.
