In this session, school leaders will move beyond compliance to explore the core components of high-quality, evidence-based bilingual programming. Utilizing the CPS ML Instructional Framework, participants will examine the urgency of prioritizing native language instruction, grounded in district-wide data, as a catalyst for continuous improvement. We will dive into the Key Biliteracy Practices such as Oracy, Cross-linguistic Connections, and Metalinguistic Awareness, shifting from "parallel monolingualism" to a model of holistic biliteracy. Participants will engage in a reflective self-assessment of their current school practices to identify strengths and areas of growth. Leaders will then operationalize these insights using the CPS Multilingual (ML) Instructional Framework, examining concrete classroom strategies to support a school environment that fosters and promotes true growth in a bilingual setting.
