Strong dual language programs do not happen by accident. They are intentionally designed through master schedules, staffing, language allocation, and instructional routines that protect access to both languages while advancing bilingualism/biliteracy, grade-level academic achievement, and sociocultural competence. In this session, participants will examine how school leaders can design and monitor master schedules that support the three pillars of Dual Language Education while also meeting Illinois bilingual education requirements, including native language instruction across core content areas and ESL across core content areas. Using Mozart Elementary School as a real CPS Lab School example, participants will explore practical tools for analyzing master schedules, strengthening language and content allocation, and embedding intentional cross-linguistic connections.
