Student perception data can be powerful — and emotionally complex — for school communities to navigate. This interactive session explores how one school designed and implemented a phased, teacher leader-driven approach to socializing Cultivate data in ways that built trust, supported adult learning, and honored student voice. As a result of this work, the school saw significant gains in key student perception measures, including a 20-point increase in Teacher Caring and a 17-point increase in Student Voice within one school year on Cultivate.
Grounded in the idea that “student trust equates to adult responsibility,” participants will examine why student voice initiatives sometimes fail to lead to meaningful change and how intentional leadership moves can create conditions for reflection rather than defensiveness. Leaders will explore how facilitation, pacing, psychological safety, and transparent revision processes helped move staff from data exposure toward meaningful dialogue and instructional action.
Through authentic artifacts, collaborative discussion, and planning time, participants will leave with practical tools, facilitation strategies, and a draft rollout plan for socializing student voice data within their own school communities.
